Childcare Specialists
Job Description
We are looking for capable, compassionate Child Care Specialists. The Child Care Specialist will be required to supervise children with developmental disabilities while their parents meet in an adjoining room for support group. Child Care Specialists will supervise children’s activities, help them develop key life skills, and ensure safety at all times. May be required to provide support to a hurt, injured, or emotionally upset child. To be successful as a Child Care Specialists, you should enjoy being around children and feel comfortable juggling multiple responsibilities. Ideal candidates will be able to manage individuals as well as groups of children in a caring, calm, educational, and therapeutic atmosphere.
Responsibilities

Providing a safe, nurturing, calm, yet fun environment for children with special needs

Supervising children during playtimes and mealtimes
-
Modeling good character and hygiene habits and encouraging children to follow them
-
Providing positive reinforcement, but also be firm when necessary
-
Offering emotional and appropriate physical support when a child is hurt or emotionally upset
-
Following the guidelines for appropriate care as outlined by each child’s parents/caregivers
Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
-
Ability to pass a background check.
-
A qualification in early childhood education or similar is highly preferred
-
Experience working with children with developmental disabilities is highly preferred.

CPR and First Aid certifications are required
-
Knowledge of psychological and emotional development in children.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
Ability to work in fast-paced, unpredictable environments.

Superb multitasking abilities
-
Sound judgement skills
Pay
$25 per hour. Approximately 1.5 hours twice monthly. Second and Fourth Wednesday of each month. 6:45pm – 8:15pm.

Board of Directors Member
Job Description
We are looking for capable, compassionate, and dedicated members to join our board of directors. The board of directors is a group of individuals who are responsible for the overall management and direction of an organization. The board’s primary role is to ensure that the organization is fulfilling its mission in a manner that is both legal and ethical. In summary, the board of directors plays a critical role in ensuring the success of an organization by providing strategic leadership, oversight, and guidance to its operations. If accepted to The Green Apple Project’s board of directors you are required to fulfill the entirety of your three year term and report to the entire board of directors.
Board of Directors are responsible for various organizational tasks including:

Determine how the organization will carry out it’s mission through long and short-range planning

Adopts an annual budget and provides fiscal oversight

Recruits, orients, and develops board members
-
Hires and evaluates the performance of the executive director
-
Evaluates it’s performance and overall performance of the organization in achieving the mission
-
Establishes policies for the effective management of the organization
Expectations
-
Understand and promote the organization’s mission to improve and protect quality of life for the individuals and families we serve.

Serve as an advocate and ambassador for the organization
-
Be familiar with the organization’s programs, policies, operations, and decisions.

Attend board meetings and appropriate committee meetings
-
Actively serve on at least one committee and offer to take on special assignments. Current committees include: Executive, Finance, Events & Membership, Development

Review agenda and supporting documents prior to meetings
-
Respond in a timely fashion to regular emails and communications
-
Make a personally meaningful donation
-
Participate in fundraising activies
-
Make an effort to attend GAP-coordinated community events and meetings
-
Disclose conflicts of interest and maintain confidentiality
Time Requirements
-
Attend and actively participate in monthly board meetings (typically 5:30pm – 7:00pm on the third Wednesday of the month)
-
Attend and actively participate in committee meetings and related work (typically one-hour meetings either once per month or every other month + related work)

Attend and actively participate in the annual planning retreat (scheduled with a majority vote)
-
Attend annual Campfire Tour (one Saturday in October)
-
Attend new board member orientation (approx. 2 hours)
Ideal Candidate

Willingness to serve the autistic community and be part of a team
-
Familiarity/Involvement with GAP programs
-
Strong network inside and outside the LC Valley community
-
Volunteer or professional experience in fundraising, event planning, advocacy, non-profit management, or local government
Election Process

Complete and submit the application for board membership

Only individuals 18 years or older are eligible
